At Awesome Olsen Middle School, our iCAN Magnet Academies give students the chance to explore their passions, gain hands on experience, and prepare for future careers through engaging classes, projects, competitions, and community partnerships.

Across both the Academy of Marine Science and Engineering and the Academy of Entertainment, Media and Business, students participate in field trips, competitions, showcases, and leadership opportunities that connect learning to the real world. Every experience is designed to help students discover their strengths, create meaningful work, and lead with confidence.
Academy of Marine Science and Engineering
Built for future scientists, engineers, and innovators, this academy blends marine science with real engineering skills. Students explore marine ecosystems and environmental challenges while designing, building, and testing solutions through hands on STEM learning. Students build and code land based VEX robots and underwater SeaPerch submersibles, with opportunities to compete in regional and state competitions. Learning extends beyond the classroom through field research experiences, guest speakers, and community connections that help students see how marine science and engineering work in the real world.
Academy of Entertainment, Media, and Business
Designed for creative leaders and future professionals, this academy combines entrepreneurship, culinary, media, music, performance, sports, and athletic training. Students create products and pitches, plan experiences and events, and develop communication and leadership skills through authentic projects. Students work with local businesses and community partners to gain hands on learning and exposure to careers in marketing, tourism, media production, music, athletics, and other creative industries. Through real world experiences, students build confidence and professional skills that prepare them for high school pathways and beyond.
